July 12 - "Last Chance Harvey" - Jorge wanted to show "Sarabande" (the last film of Ingmar Bergman) but Blockbuster didn't have it so he and Joe found this one.
JM - "It has Dustin Hoffman and Emma Thompson, they're really good actors you know, so it must be good"
MT - (during the first few minutes) "I've seen this before, in an airplane! I didn't listen to it but was wondering what was happening"
JD - (midway) "This is a chick-flick!"
JM - ???
JD - "you know, a movie that chicks like..."
JD - "She's going to convince him to go back to his daughter's wedding, he's going to play the piano and they're going to get together" (yep, it all happened like that!)
JD - "Now he's going to have a heart attack" (he did!)
JD - (after) "I wish I could have those 90 minutes of my life back!"
MT - "I kind of liked Emma Thompson"

July 18 - "Kill Bill, part 1" - Quentin Tarantino directed Uma Thurman in this hip, ultra-violent movie from a few years ago.
NH - (who was playing wii in the back of the room) "this is more fun"

July 19 - "The Coronation of Poppea" - Tom's choice to entertain our guests, Jen M. and Ona B. Monteverdi opera from 1642 (early baroque).
TR - (as it it starting) "It starts out a little slowly but then it picks up" " The first scene is a discussion between some gods" "This opera is about a jerk named Nero who has an affair with a bimbo"
TR - (aside) "I can't believe I got everyone watching a baroque opera!"
TR - (after 2 hrs) " Actually, this goes on for hours..." (after which everyone got up and we stopped the movie, even Tom didn't object!)
TR - (further comments) - "This was before opera had arias or choruses. It's pure music!"
JD - "I don't think anyone is ever going to come back again to watch a movie at our house"
MT - "Somehow the lighting reminds me of old daytime soap operas"
OB - "The music was lovely but the staging was awful. Didn't you think the gods looked green?"

July 25 - "Pulp Fiction" - the classic Tarantino film re-visited
PL - "The english must be very difficult for someone like Masashi"
EH - "What do you mean? Every other word is some variation of f***!"

July 26 - "Twister" - a classic from the Cricket Lane days.
EH - "I kind of felt sorry for the corporate scientist. His only problem was that he was a bit stupid, it didn't seem that he deserved to get killed by the tornado"

August 8 - "Kill Bill, part 2" - What's the matter with us? Why are we watching this stuff?
