Drones first became available about 10 years ago. They were very hard to set up and use. I crashed / destroyed several. Over the years, they became more capable and easier to use. Some big advances were the incorporation of GPS (so the drone could remember where it started from and come back if it lost the controller signal), much better cameras, simpler set up, etc.  I have had a DJI Mini 2 for the past several years.
